The University of Melbourne Indonesian Alumni Association aims to provide all alumni, especially those who are in the greater Jakarta area and western part of Indonesia, with opportunities to expand their social and professional connections through our regular events. We are committed to providing peer support for all alumni while at the same time, also passionate about giving back to the community by collaborating with our alumni and various community partners.

Handoko completed his undergraduate degree in mathematics from the University of Melbourne, where he received two scholarships and two awards. Throughout his undergraduate years, his passion was in education; he was a mentor and assistant mathematics teacher in numerous Victorian primary and secondary schools. He then took a gap year before pursuing his postgraduate studies in mathematics at the Australian National University. Handoko is currently a data science and advanced analytics consultant at IBM Corporation, solving problems in analytics, data and digital strategy for clients across different sectors and industries. He was the only consultant from the Asia-Pacific region selected as the IBM Global Initiatives Team's Global Chair in Data Analytics with the mission of connecting more than 3000 young consultants in more than 50 countries through various initiatives.
Henri completed his undergraduate degree with a double major in Chemistry and Chemical Engineering Science, followed by a Diploma in Education, at Monash University. After teaching for three years, he moved into the financial sector as a systems programmer and analyst, while completing post graduate studies in Information Sciences at Victoria University. After five years in the IT industry, he returned to teaching before commencing further post graduate studies in Education at the University of Melbourne. In 2001 he left Melbourne for Bandung, Indonesia, completing the final semesters of his Master of Education online and graduating in 2002. Currently Head of Secondary Campus at Australian Independent School (AIS) Indonesia, he was previously Head of School at Bandung International School, West Java and Principal at ACG School Jakarta.
Gustav Rafi, Treasurer
Gustav graduated from the University of Melbourne with a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting & Finance) in 2017. He also attended University of Indonesia majoring in Accounting as part of his double degree program. Currently he works at British American Tobacco (Bentoel Group) as Global Graduate Program – Finance.
Astrid has a passion to improve the health and wellbeing of all kinds of people. She obtained her medical degree from Trisakti University in 2011. In 2015, Astrid was granted Australia Awards Scholarship and was awarded Outstanding Student during the pre-departure training. Astrid studied Public Health with a focus on gender and women’s health and sexual and reproductive health at the University of Melbourne, graduating with a Master of Public Health in 2017. Nowadays, works and cooperates with multiple organisations in fighting against HIV/AIDS, including Angsamerah (where she works here as a General Practitioner and Project Manager), FHI360, UNAIDS, UNODC, UN Women.
Rei was born in Jakarta and moved to Australia aged five. He completed primary and secondary education in Perth, Western Australia before moving to Melbourne where he completed his Bachelor of Engineering Degree in Software. He loves using tech to solve problems and has been involved with several startups, including boxaladin.com, kickavenue.com and shoxfashion.com.
