Joyce Guo
Bachelor of Commerce

Joyce graduated with her Bachelor of Commerce, majoring in economics and finance!

Joyce went to a public high school in Melbourne’s west and was one of only four students accepted into the degree program. Coming from a less-privileged background than many who study at the University, she envied some of the opportunities other had that just weren’t accessible at her own school.

However, she soon saw her less-privileged background as an asset rather than a weakness.

“One of the biggest lessons I’ve learnt from my degree was that my disadvantages gave me the hunger to try new things, the persistence to do well, and the ability to appreciate and take advantage of every opportunity.”

She certainly has taken advantage of every opportunity! During her degree, she was active in four student societies – FMAA, Enactus, Robogals and MMI – and completed two internships with a third to begin over the summer in Sydney.

Joyce, pictured here with her best friend, has already secured a grad job for next year at The Boston Consulting Group and is considering a further honours year of study in economics, and we’re sure she’ll excel at whatever she chooses to do!
