Tom Diaz - Juris Doctor

As Tom Diaz graduates from Melbourne Law School, he is taking some fantastic memories of the University with him. During his time at Melbourne, Tom served as Education Director for the Law Students’ Society; won the Melbourne Law School Negotiation Competition and the Mooting Competition; and travelled to India to participate in an International Negotiation Competition.

Tom maintained a balance throughout his studies by keeping an active role within the family business – a vineyard and winery in Avoca, Victoria. He also saved time for basketball, football and spending time with friends.

With all of this on his plate, Tom’s biggest challenge was making the 3-hour return trip from Ballarat to attend class!

Next year, Tom will be commencing a graduate position at Allens – a leading commercial law firm in Australia. His advice to current and future students is simple. "Life is a revolving door of opportunity."

Step in to the doors that interest you and remain open-minded. Take up extra-circular activities, get to know your colleagues and surround yourself by interesting and motivated people.

Congratulations Tom!
