How Latin Americans have influenced Victoria
'Building Bridges: From Latin American Stories to Victorian History' seeks to reveal the many ways in which the Latin American migrant community (30,000 people from 20 different countries) is positively influencing critical aspects of Victoria's culture and social fabric.
Having excelled in gastronomy, music, arts, sports, science, education and festivals, the contributions of the Latin American community residing in Victoria are represented in this exhibition through a series of group photographs and historical objects. These objects symbolise the stories, deeds, tribulations and achievements of many Latin Americans who have made Victoria their second home.
Over 300 Latin Americans have contributed to the delivery of the exhibition and a series of public programs focusing on sharing their culture and traditions. To date, there has not been an exhibition focusing on this cultural group in Australia.
