Jennifer Feinstein - Master of Environment
“For me, school isn’t just about the assignments and classes, but about the people and the extracurricular experiences, too.”
Jennifer Feinstein made lasting connections during her time at university. The Master of Environment graduate says she found her “second home” at UoM’s Office of Environmental Programs.
Fellow OEP students are not only my friends, but have felt like family too. I have always been grateful for the comfort and happiness I feel when I walk into the OEP study space and see my peers.
While studying, Jennifer secured consulting work for a company in her field – a position she still holds today.
“Early on in my degree I got a job at a waste consulting firm doing waste audits and eventually waste reporting projects in office,” says Jennifer. “I’m still working there now and am really grateful to have a job that's both related to my field and flexible enough that I could balance school commitments.”
Jennifer, who hails from the United States, is planning a visit home for a few weeks before she returns to Melbourne to look for full-time work. Well aware of the challenges of the job search, Jennifer has some helpful advice for those about to start.
“Use your resources to get help writing your resume and cover letter,” she suggests. “The University has free career workshops and I have found that friends are usually happy to read over application materials.”
And Jennifer’s most important tip for job hunters?
“Don't settle! Something great might be around the corner.”
