Jordan Osrin - Juris Doctor

The support Jordan received from the University’s careers services helped him to secure a job before graduation.

Like every student, Jordan faced challenges while studying, but he was well supported by his friends and the University.

“Navigating the clerkship application process while undertaking a particularly difficult semester of university was probably the toughest challenge I faced in all my years of study" Jordan said.

I was able to lean on friends that were also going through this challenge, and the Law School’s career services to provide support and assistance through the process.

Studying at the University of Melbourne opened up opportunities for Jordan that he otherwise would not have had.

“One of my favourite experiences from my time at MLS was going on the Global Lawyer international subject to Washington DC and New York. I will miss meeting and spending time with all the friends I made at Uni. This was definitely the thing I enjoyed the most about my time at MLS.”

Jordan’s advice to students is to remember that university life goes beyond the classroom.

“My main piece of advice for students is to really embrace your time at university and participate in as many events and societies as you can. Embracing university in this way is sure to help you make friends, have fun, and make the most of your time at Uni.”

“Marks are not everything and participating in these activities helps you become a better, more rounded person.”

Jordan is travelling through Mexico, Cuba, Colombia and Guatemala before starting work in early February at King & Wood Mallesons.

To all those on the job hunt, Jordan highly recommends the University’s career services, which greatly helped him to secure his graduate position.

The guidance these people are able to provide on the application process, including resumes, cover letters and interview practice, is invaluable.
