Australian Centre Literary Awards 2019
The Australian Centre administers a series of prizes for outstanding endeavour in the visual arts, creative writing and biographical studies.
The awards are presented on an annual or biennial basis. The awards for script writing, life writing and poetry for 2019 are now open.
The Kate Challis RAKA Award ($20,000) is for the best script for film or television by an Indigenous writer, screened in the preceding five years.
The Peter Blazey Fellowship ($15,000) is awarded to a writer in the non-fiction fields of biography, autobiography and life writing to further a work in progress.
The Vincent Buckley Poetry Prize ($12,000) is awarded to an Irish poet for travel to Australia in 2020.
This suite of prizes has been established to commemorate the lives and work of distinguished staff Professor Emeritus Bernard Smith (Art History), Professor Vincent Buckley (English) and alumnus Peter Blazey (BA 1964).
Recipients will be announced at Australian Centre Literary Awards on Saturday 7 September during the Melbourne Writers Festival.
