New Creative Arts Therapy and Voice courses offer specialist career skills

Two new masters courses, one of which is the first of its kind in the country, offer unique specialisations for arts professionals.

The Master of Creative Arts Therapy and Master of Theatre (Voice) have been created to offer sought-after specialisations, with professionally delivered programs in the heart of Melbourne's Arts Precinct.

Master of Creative Arts Therapy
The first such program in Australia, the two-year full-time Master of Creative Arts Therapy will be taught at the University’s Southbank campus and offers students a specialisation in either drama or dance movement therapy.

It has been developed specifically for artists, arts educators, community arts workers, health workers, therapists and others who are interested in training to practise as a drama or dance therapist, and provides students with studies in theory, methods, research and professional practice across health, educational and community contexts.

Master of Theatre (Voice)
The new 18-month Master of Theatre (Voice) will provide students with industry-leading knowledge and skills to work as a professional voice coach in the performing arts, film and television, media and business.

With mentoring from staff of international standing, students will develop the interpersonal skills that enable a voice coach to become an integral part of a creative or educational team.

The course will be led by Leith McPherson, a professional voice coach and Senior Lecturer in Theatre at the Victorian College of the Arts.
