University ranks in top ten universities worldwide for graduate employability

The University of Melbourne has moved into the ranks of the top ten best universities in the world for employability outcomes for its graduates, according to the 2018 QS Graduate Employability Rankings.

It now sits at seventh in the world, moving up from 11th the previous year.

The Melbourne Model of broad undergraduate studies with postgraduate specialisation lies at the heart of this success, believes Professor Margaret Sheil, Provost of the University of Melbourne.

“The Melbourne Model delivers resilient graduates who enter the workplace with a highly desirable blend of technical, communication and interpersonal skills,” she said.

“We introduced the Melbourne Model to respond to the changing world of work. As professional life becomes more complex, universities must equip their students with a more diverse and flexible skill set.

“In a crowded marketplace, a specialised postgraduate qualification helps our students stand out to employers.”

The ranking is based on five elements: employer reputation, alumni outcomes, partnerships with employers, employer-student connections and graduate employment rate.
